Introducing the Great American Road Trip, a collection of my favorites places to visit for a day trip, long weekend or extended stay, with hot takes on what to do, see + eat while there. This week: Three Perfect Days on the North Fork.

Once Long Island’s best-kept secret, the North Fork has gained quite the loyal following in recent years as visitors look for a more low key alternative to the rambunctious South Fork aka “The Hamptons.” This 30-mile-long peninsula is home to several seaside towns including the beloved Greenport, dozens of farms and farm stands, and more than 30 vineyards, making it an ideal place to spend some time, no matter who you’re with.

Here, we’ll explore some of my favorites, from vintage stores and antique shops to food trucks and waterfront wineries. I promise the North Fork’s come-as-you-are attitude will have you saying home sweet home.
